New Online Learning Program Helps People Prepare for Separation Before Costly Decisions Are Made
Two accredited family mediators with decades of collective experience launch Separation Preparation, an affordable, self-paced online learning experience to help prepare people for the separation process they’re embarking on.
Port Perry, Ontario — [June 30, 2026] — A new educational focused program launching today looks to fill one of the most overlooked gaps in the separation process: that window of time potentially right before separating or immediately after before anyone hires a professional, to gain understanding of all the decisions that they’ll be facing as they begin to move through the separation process and prepare them to make the best decisions for themselves, and their family.
The program, called Separation Preparation (separationpreparation.com), is delivered through the LearnWorlds online learning platform. It provides self-paced online education, which is specifically designed to help reduce fear of the process and increase understanding of decisions that need to be made. People are then able to make informed decisions during a time when their emotions may be at their highest.
The program was created by Julie Gill and Jennifer Donison, both Accredited Family Mediators, Accredited Professional Divorce Coaches, co-founders of the Breakforward Divorce Coach Training Program, and Parenting Coordinators. Julie is also a Family Arbitrator and a Certified Specialist in Separation Finances. Collectively they have guided thousands of families through the separation process, and both have personally experienced how difficult and stressful this time-period can be for someone.
“Most people make their important early decisions when they’re least equipped to make them. At that point, many people are scared, overwhelmed, and reacting instead of thinking,” said Jennifer Donison. “Being prepared, especially at the beginning of the process, can transform separation from something that happens to you into something you can navigate with intention,” said Julie Gill.
The course is purpose built for the person going through a separation. It takes learners through a step-by-step process, helping them understand their options, gather important information, and prepare for the decisions ahead while providing deep insight from two professionals who are in the rooms with people navigating this. Separation Preparation helps educate learners on their options, how to avoid common mistakes, and prepares them to understand the information they’ll need to make major decisions. It also provides learners with usable real-world documents they create in tandem with the course that they’ll be able to use with any professional they engage in their next steps.
The comprehensive curriculum covers many facets of the separation process, and the video content included featuring Julie and Jennifer, add a professional’s perspective into what they’ve seen work, how things can go wrong, and what are the best approaches to help.
This course is not meant to replace professional help, but to provide a solid starting point that will make the rest of the process smoother and less costly. “Everyone deserves one-on-one professional support, but that isn’t realistic for most families,” said Jennifer Donison. “We created the education we wish had existed when we were going through our own separations, so people can walk into their first meeting with a professional prepared, and focused,” said Julie Gill.
Separation Preparation is available now atseparationpreparation.com.
